Thouless Postdoctoral Fellowships support outstanding early career researchers in the field of quantum matter, ranging from condensed matter and atomic physics to materials science and quantum-based devices. Applicants must have no more than two years of postdoctoral experience at the time of appointment. The fellowships will have a three-year term with an annual stipend of $84,000 and an annual research fund of $10,000 to be used in support of research and professional travel.Â
Applications for the program begin with nomination by an established senior researcher, who is asked to provide a brief statement of why the candidate is suitable for this highly selective program. Nominees meeting the requirements will be invited to submit a full application which will comprise a cover letter, CV, two-page research statement, and three references including the nominator. A link will be posted here when the 2026 nomination window is open.
