Mutual aid is a principle of community care, it’s people coming together to support each other. For those who have privilege, such as being white, having a family that supports them, being abled, being financially stable, etc, it is best practice to redistribute funds by supporting members of the community who need it or to organizations that give back to the community. If you are in need of help, mutual aid is an amazing, community-centered way to receive support. Since it is local and specific, it is the best way to receive aid without engaging in corrupt systems within larger organizations.
