Equity is not optional.
I strongly support efforts to increase the representation and leadership of people from traditionally disenfranchised communities in STEM. Science should be for everyone.
I am currently an active member of the UW Department of Atmospheric Sciences Diversity and Inclusion Group (DIG). We seek to host open discussions and work toward the needed changes in our academic culture around diversity and equity, mentoring, and mental health.
