In addition to producing the original campus tree tour during his tenure on campus, C. Frank Brockman also produced the "Tree of the Day" display, which for many years graced the wall of Anderson Hall as well as the Bus Shelter that is the starting point of the tree tour. The display was alternated each day to showcase one of over a hundred of species of trees. Each day, the display included a tree identification card with botanical information, a range map, and a representative photo for each species showcased. This was yet another way by which Brockman shared the beauty of trees with the broader world. While the physical displays have now been phased out, each of the original "Tree of the Day" tree profiles may be found right here in digital form on this page. Although not all of these trees may be found here on campus, most may be found around the Seattle area, especially in the Washington Park Arboretum, a marvelous park overseen by the UW Botanic Gardens. If one is interested in finding one of these specimens, a search on the Seattle area tree maps is a great way to start. We hope you enjoy this extra resource of the University Campus Tree Tours!
