Please email rcsummer@uw.edu as soon as possible.
Please email rcsummer@uw.edu in advance. Students will not be allowed to leave campus during class time unless we receive notification and permission from a parent or guardian. If someone other than the parent or guardian is picking up your student, please include their name in your email so we can confirm.
Summer Challenge courses and meant as enrichment and do not match with standard school curriculum.
Summer Stretch participants do recieve transcripts upon completion of the course. However, it is up to your student's school if they will accept our transcripts in exchange for credit. The Robinson Center is not accredited and schools differ in how they treat these courses. Schools willing to grant credit usually require prior approval.
There is a flat fee for after-class care. This is charged regardless of how many days per week your child makes use of our after-class program.
We will do our best to accommodate your child’s needs. Parents complete an Acknowledgement of Risk and Consent for Treatment form before classes begin so that teachers and the Robinson Center staff will be aware of any relevant medical issues. You can also contact the teacher directly if you have further concerns. We train our teachers in EpiPen use and provide first aid kits in every classroom. We cannot, however, provide any medications to students without explicit parental permission.
Students should bring ample snacks and a lunch with them every day. Lunch periods are determined by individual instructors, usually for 30-45 minutes between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM.
Summer Challenge: Students will not have extensive homework assignments. However, you can expect an occasional homework assignment, depending on the class. This should not take more than one hour for any given assignment.
Summer Stretch: This depends on the course. While some classes necessitate a high homework load (such as math courses and Chemistry) other classes can require less (our Essay Writing classes might require perhaps two hours of homework per night). Summer Stretch is an academically rigorous program and as such homework is an integral part of the challenge and the reward.
This is an individual decision. Many students are driven to and from campus or carpool; however, some students are comfortable using city buses or light rail. If you decide to use public transportation, we encourage you to do some practice runs with your child. If they have a cell phone, instruct them about keeping the phone charged and on.
After summer transcripts have been shared with participants, a written request must be received from the parent or student allowing release of a transcript. The request emailed to our office at rcsummer@uw.edu. We are unable to accept telephone requests. Please allow 5 working days for processing your request. Transcripts are available for Summer Stretch participants ONLY.
