UPDATE 4/13/2020: We will try for a Virtual MPC 2020! See all the details here. Please consider sharing your work in progress, participating in the Online Database Solutions for Paleobotany workshop, or just plan on attending! Importantly: we will only do the virtual MPC if we get 20+ people that are willing to present, so please register (form here). Deadline is 4/20/2020. We will announce whether the conference will happen on 4/21/2020, so stay tuned!

UPDATE 3/13/2020: Due to restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic, MPC 2020 will not physically be held in Seattle (or elsewhere). We are currently exploring the possibility of holding a virtual symposium in its place this year. MPC 2021 will be in Seattle. Stay safe!!

Welcome! The Midcontinent Paleobotanical Colloquium (MPC) is held each spring by different institutional hosts. We encourage a diverse set of students, faculty, and others interested in fossil plants to attend this relaxed and informal meeting. Despite the name of the colloquium, we encourage attendance from across the continent–and beyond–and presented research topics can span a similar breadth.
The meeting will include social receptions, oral and poster presentations, keynote lectures, a workshop, and field trips. Please explore this website for more detailed information.
The 37th MPC is hosted by the University of Washington and the Burke Museum and will be held in Seattle, Washington May 1st - 3rd 2020.
Student travel awards are available for this meeting, visit the Registration page for information on how to apply!

The Burke Museum reopened their doors on October 12th of 2019 in a brand new building! The museum exhibits and collections spaces have been completely redesigned with an "inside-out theme", bringing behind-the-scenes museum activities to the forefront for visitors to experience and interact with. There will be plenty of time during the conference to explore the new museum, including our new T. rex skull and our fossil plant wall tracking temperature change through the Cenozoic!
