Running the Game

Have this page available when running the event. Here is a print-friendly version: BBK Quick Guide

Place the first envelope on each table with instructions to NOT OPEN until you give the signal

Ask people to gather in teams of 4-6 players around each table.

Welcome players to the game! 🎉

Describe your role as a game host and provide the following instructions: 

• They will need to work together collaboratively 

• They should have minimal interaction with other teams in the room. They should not shout out answers and spoil the puzzles for other teams!

• The game is designed to be challenging, but you, as the game host, will be available to provide hints when necessary. 

• There is a part in the game where they need to access a video, so they should have a phone or laptop available. 

• Once they complete the game, there will be a debriefing discussion.
  
  

Confirm each table has an envelope. Then, read out the mission statement: 

📥 Mission Statement:

For the past decade, influencer and occasional fabulist Galen Terry has amassed a considerable fortune by pitching a variety of products – ranging from wellness supplements to sportsbook apps – to his millions of followers across multiple social media platforms. His latest venture is an investment opportunity based on a new digital currency, Bo$$BabyKoin. Your friend James is a huge fan of Terry, and he has convinced his parents to convert their savings into Bo$$BabyKoin, but he’s starting to have second thoughts. James’ parents are on the way to the bank to withdraw their savings, so you only have a short window of time to determine whether James’ parents are about to invest their life savings in a scam.  

Give the signal to open the envelope and start the game.

Start a timer on your phone to track the game time 

First Folder

When a team turns in the first answer card with the following three correct passcodes on it, hand them the SECOND folder. 

→ Correct passcodes: (1) INVESTOR, (2) MARKET, (3) THINK

Second Folder

Teams solve only one puzzle in this envelope (Emoji math). They enter the password on a webpage, using the URL or QR code

  → Correct passcode: 9817

⚠️ If players have trouble accessing the video link, have it ready on your laptop as a backup

Players must watch the video, share it, and read the message to receive the passcode. Then someone from the team verbally turns in the passcode to the game host

⚠️ Sometimes the "Share" button is not visible when someone is watching the video in horizontal or pop-up mode. Try adjusting until they can see and click the button 

Hand out the third folder

Third Folder

Teams solve only one puzzle in this envelope (Tracing pathways). They enter the password on a webpage using the URL or QR code

→ Correct passphrase: DOUGH

⚠️ If players have trouble accessing the video link, have it ready on your laptop as a backup

When a team turns in the following passphrase write down their finishing time on the card and save it. During the debrief, you can announce the winning teams. 

→ Correct passphrase: COIN HYPE

Let them know that there is one last activity before wrapping up the experience - the debrief. 

Giving Hints

The Puzzle Guide includes hints for each puzzle to help teams along that are struggling

We also have Hint Cards if useful (e.g. first timers, volunteer helpers, large events)

Celebrate the winning team/s using the times you wrote down on their final answer cards.
