Any member, volunteer, or staff member who has experienced discrimination, discriminatory harassment, or retaliation by another individual may file an official complaint with UVSASE Executive Board. If this complaint is regarding a member of the Executive Board, individuals may file the complaint with the UVSASE Board of Directors.
The complaint may be made in a written or verbal format. A report should include the following details, when possible:
Name, email, & phone number of person filing the complaint (the Complainant)
Name, email, & phone number of the person against whom the complaint (the Respondent) is being filed (if known)
Date incident occurred
Location of incident
Description of the incident
For sexual misconduct complaints, the report should include the following details (in addition to the questions above), when possible:
Is the person making the report the victim or third party?
Are the victim and offender acquainted? If so, how?
Was the incident motivated by hate or bias? If yes, identify the category of hate or bias (race, gender, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or disability)
Was the victim or offender under the influence of alcohol or drugs?
All complaints of discrimination or harassment should be submitted as soon as possible after the incident occurs, but there is no required time frame for filing complaints. All complaints are handled in a prompt, thorough, and equitable manner.
Note: Complaints filed long after an alleged incident occurs will hinder effective investigations because verbal accounts, physical evidence, and other information may be more difficult to obtain. This will significantly limit UVSASE's ability to take appropriate responsive actions.
Official complaints may be submitted to any members of the UVSASE Executive Board (eboard@uvsase.org) or Board of Directors (bod@uvsase.org). You can also report an incident to any UVSASE staff. All UVSASE staff has a responsibility to immediately notify the UVSASE Executive Board about your complaint and report any alleged incidents for processing.
If you would like to make a criminal filing, the complaint should be directly filed with your local law-enforcement authority.
Note: If the complaint filed is regarding a member of the Executive Board, individuals may file the complaint with the UVSASE Board of Directors (bod@uvsase.org).
