According to the By-Laws, membership in an appropriate class listed below shall be open to all persons and organizations interested in wildlife resources and the wildlife profession. The membership of Utah Chapter shall consist of the following Voting and Non-voting classes:
Voting Class Members:
Regular Member—Those members who pay Utah Chapter dues and who are not defined below as a non-voting member. Membership in The Society or The Section is not required and does not constitute membership in Utah Chapter.
Student Member—An individual enrolled in a full-time college level study of wildlife or directly related curricula. This membership status shall not pay dues nor exceed seven years. Student members must be endorsed by a Regular Member knowledgeable about the applicant’s student status.
Honorary Member—A person so recognized by the elected governing Executive Board for distinguished service or outstanding achievement relative to wildlife management. This membership class does not pay dues and holds status for life.
Retired Member—Any person who has retired from gainful employment in a wildlife profession or other person who has retired from gainful employment and been a member of The Society, The Section or Utah Chapter for 25 or more consecutive years. Such a membership status must be petitioned by an applicant and approved by the Executive Board.
Non-voting Class Members:
Exchange Membership—This membership class is available upon approval of the Executive Board to those groups with whom the Utah Chapter may exchange information or services.
Only members of Voting Class Members shall be entitled to vote, hold office and officially represent the Utah Chapter’s name or official position.
Official representation of Utah Chapter by any person other that the President is only to be when so appointed by the Executive Board.
Members may not hold Utah Chapter offices unless they are also Voting Class Members of The Society during their tenure in office.
Members forfeit their rights and privileges and shall not be entitled to vote or hold office during any period of membership dues delinquency.
Membership in the Utah Chapter shall be reinstated upon payment of dues.
Elected officers delinquent in dues beyond the end of the first quarter of the membership year shall be considered as resigned and appropriately replaced.
Annual Dues
According to the By-Laws, Annual dues represent a basic fee for operations and services of Utah Chapter. The Executive Board may adjust that basic fee each year by an amount not to exceed 10 percent of existing dues, and only when necessary due to Utah Chapter financial obligations. Needed adjustments in the basic fee that would exceed such a limit shall be submitted to the membership for approval during the next Annual Meeting.
Dues which must be annually paid by all voting members can be paid at any time. However, a membership year is that period between Annual Meetings.
Dues may also be paid along with The Section or The Society dues, and subsequently will be returned to the Utah Chapter.
In order to stimulate cash flow early in the membership year, dues paid during the first three quarters of the year will be credited to the membership year in which paid. Dues paid during the last quarter will be applied to the next year.
