We are BÄR’s Sports and Outdoor Committee — or simply BIF! Our role as the sports committee is to make sure all biology students have the opportunity to stay active and get some fresh air in between studying and partying.
Every week, usually on Tuesdays, we run a shorter route with our running group in the beautiful Stadsskogen. We also try to set aside one day each month where you can join us for climbing at one of Uppsala’s many climbing gyms. In addition, we organize outdoor activities such as barbecue evenings, mushroom picking, hiking trips, ski trips, and much more!
We also host several traditional events to look forward to in the autumn — such as Färgkul, a full day of paintball followed by a micro-gasque in the evening; Stairway to Heaven, where we run up and down the staircases in the Flogsta high-rise buildings; and last but not least the BIF Gala, a formal dinner held around the turn of the year when the BIF board hands over to the next one.
Because we are part of Uppsala teknolog- och naturvetarkår (UTN), we also take part in the annual Ångströmsmästerskapen (ÅM), where we compete against other science and engineering students in four sports:
Volleyball
Mystery sport
Floorball
Football (soccer)
Before these tournaments, we put together a team to represent BÄR and train together so that everyone is as prepared as possible.
