Steel Strapping Tensioning Technique

Steel Strapping Tensioning Technique (SSTT) is a technique that uses strapping technology in packaging industry to confine and retrofit reinforced concrete structures. This allows early activation of confinement effect through pre-stressing the confinement hoops. To date, we have conducted extensive research on application of SSTT to retrofit reinforced concrete structures. Our extensive research have revealed that SSTT can improve the structural performance of reinforced concrete under axial compression and flexural loads. Below are some highlights of our previous research projects related to SSTT.
