Structural retrofitting is a process to improve the structural performance of existing buildings. Conventionally, structurally unsafe buildings are either dismantled or abandoned. Today, structural retrofitting provides an option to make these buildings safe again. Steel Strapping Tensioning Technique (SSTT) is an active confinement technique to retrofit reinforced concrete structures. SSTT can be applied as easy as wrapping straps around structural elements. SSTT works by applying multiaxial compressions to concrete. Since concrete is naturally good under compression, the structural performance of concrete is improved.
We have conducted extensive research on application of SSTT to retrofit reinforced concrete structures. The findings and knowledges from our research have been shared in the form of Articles and Book Chapters. They are also filed as Intellectual Property. With our reckoned expertise, we have secured many national and international Grant Awards. We have been actively participating in wide range of projects related to structural retrofitting.
