Design 1 introduces the essential fundamental theories of design in architecture. Students undergo a series of design projects relating to design thinking and skills in 2D and 3D composition, creative ideas generation and spatial articulation. The design exercises re quire an appropriate design method and process that demonstrates the development of skills in perceiving, imagining, analyzing, and synthesizing a particular issue. Projects are arranged progressively from one project to the other regarding the learning outcome and complexity. Design 1 emphasizes the importance of cognition, creativities and critical thinking, relationship between human and the environment, human ergonomics, and anthropometrics as well as basic design principles.
