The mission of the 4-H Shooting Sports Program is to assist youth in acquiring knowledge, developing life skills, and forming attitudes so they may become self-directing, productive, and contributing members of society.
Putnam County 4-H offers two shooting sports disciplines: archery and BB/air rifle. All youth are trained by state and national certified instructors.

Youth may participate in 3 different divisions: Genesis Compound, Open Compound, and Recurve.
This program runs from January – April with weekly practice sessions and ending with the state shoot competition at the end of April.
There is a participation fee for archery that covers the following: entry fees to state shoot, t-shirt, insurance, and maintenance of equipment.
