Imagine a world where professions are not guided by ethics. What would it look like?
As educators, we know what it is like to be faced with a multitude of decisions every day. We often find ourselves making these decisions alone.
It is important for each of us to understand how to make ethical decisions using resources available to us AND conversations with our fellow educators.
“Awareness of the ethics codes is crucial … but the formal standards are not a substitute for an active deliberative, and creative approach to fulfilling our ethical responsibilities. They prompt, guide, and inform our ethical consideration – they do not serve as a substitute for it.”
Pope, K. & Vasquez, M. (2011). Ethics in psychotherapy and counseling (4th edition).
It is our goal to guide you through ethical decision making in each of the areas you as educators have responsibilities. As you make your way through the modules, take time to reflect on your own teaching practices and how our profession can benefit when we STOP, THINK, and REFLECT.
