About Professional Competencies, Attitudes, and Dispositions (ProCADs)
While we spend considerable time developing pedagogical content knowledge in our future teachers, there are key professional competencies, attitudes, and dispositions that surround and affect the act of teaching. It is these inter- and intra-personal factors we seek to assess with the ProCADs.
Effective teaching requires specific attitudes toward educational contexts and stakeholders, as well as dispositions toward self-reflection and open-mindedness. A deep understanding of attitudes and dispositions helps a teacher translate a code of ethics into the act of effective teaching.
