Learning Outcome Domains (LOD)
In the Malaysian Qualifications Framework (MQF), Learning Outcome Domains (LOD) are categories that define the broad areas of knowledge, skills, and competencies students are expected to achieve. These domains guide the development and assessment of Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) and Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs), ensuring a comprehensive educational experience.
Purpose & Benefits:
Structured Framework: Provides a clear structure for curriculum development and assessment.
Comprehensive Evaluation: Ensures all critical areas of learning are addressed.
Alignment with Standards: Aligns educational outcomes with national and international standards.
Revised Bloom's Taxonomy
The Revised Bloom’s Taxonomy categorizes cognitive skills from lower-order thinking (remembering, understanding) to higher-order thinking (analyzing, evaluating, creating). It provides a structured framework for designing, delivering, and assessing learning experiences.
Importance in Teaching & Learning:
Guides Learning Outcomes: Helps educators design Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) and Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) that target appropriate cognitive levels.
Aligns Assessments: Ensures that assessment methods match the intended level of learning, from basic knowledge recall to complex problem-solving.
Enhances Teaching Strategies: Encourages active learning and critical thinking by promoting higher-order cognitive skills.
Improves Student Learning: Supports gradual development of knowledge and skills, preparing students for real-world application and lifelong learning.
