My adolescent medicine fellowship training at UT helped prepare me for taking care of adolescents and young adults in a variety of settings from outpatient to inpatient regarding both subspecialty and primary care topics. My program allowed me to further pursue my specific interested in psychiatry including personalized rotations with attendings with expertise in ADHD, drug addiction, and inpatient child and adolescent psychiatry. I also attended multiple child psychiatry conferences. Our departments has a strong relationship with the department of psychiatry, which has its own residency and child psych fellowship, and this allows for numerous educational and professional collaborations. Another interest that my program helped foster is in medical education. I was able to pursue a masters in education for health science educators. I also was able to do my fellowship scholarly project in education and collaborate with multiple researchers in the pediatrics department with expertise in medical education. Above all else my department has always been supportive and attentive to my needs as a learner, physician and person. They have helped me become a better physician, educator and team member.
