Maker Project

Maker Project

My Maker Project combines my love of art and technology, and most of all my love for the vinyl cutter. This project was very meaningful to me, as it was my first attempt at ever making homemade stickers and my first time creating something tangible out of digital art. I used my vinyl cutter to make precise cuts of the stickers, and these were made as a Christmas gift for my partner's sister.

It was a great learning experience for me, as I had to learn how to precisely measure out the spacing between the digital images and learn how to translate that into the Silhouette Studio software.

Some other things I learned during this project were the importance of material. Different types of sticker paper have different levels of adhesiveness, some laminating material is more durable than others, and experiementing with those different types is something that I would like to do in the future if I were to attempt to create stickers again.

The Design: The art for the stickers was created in the app Procreate, using an iPad and Apple Pencil.

Trial and Error: The alignment of the printed stickers and the vinyl cutter did not quite match up, so it was back to the Silhouette Design Studio to be recut.

The Model: Above is an image of Ava the Corgi, which was the model and inspiration for the stickers.
