Students will work with an under-privileged sub-population in healthcare, and then find a non-profit organization or healthcare facility that has experience in working with this underprivileged population. In this project, students will analyze some health communication issues this patient population face and some challenges that this non-profit organization or healthcare facility faces in working with this patient population.
Together, students will work with the organization to understand the challenges their patients or population face. They will provide creative solutions that resolve both sides of the challenges using public health and health communication theory.
Students then present a final portfolio outlining the entire campaign to address the health problem the organization and they have decided to focus on. In addition to including the background information/rationale, and theoretical support of why this pitch will work, they will also develop, and present, a portfolio, or white paper, that reflects the campaign.
If you or your organization would like to work with our students, please contact me and we will be happy to connect you to our Global Communication graduate students.
