WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING
Emily is wonderful to work with. She is extremely dedicated to any task and always willing to lend a hand or friendly encouragement. It can be hard to take criticism of one's work, especially when you pour so much into each project. Emily can take constructive and even flat-out criticism in spades - she gracefully welcomes input and uses each project or experience to improve her work. She is an incredibly positive, motivating influence both in and outside of the workplace. Hands down one of my favorite colleagues of all time.

Emily is clearly an expert, but she presents complicated topics in a warm and approachable way. I attended one of her workshops on grief, and she was able to break down her research in a way that showed us how normal feelings of grief could be, and offered some relief from the guilt that many of us feel. Emily's talk and discussion session was accessible to people at all levels of knowledge and expertise. She really discusses all of the nasty "guilt" feelings in such a warm, guilt relieving way.

Dr. Scheinfeld gives enjoyable examples. She easily related things in different ways so that people could see the material from different perspectives...She also knows her stuff. You can see that she really loves her job.

Emily provided a safe environment for me to learn about and acknowledge my grief in a whole new way. Through her own personal life experiences and expertise, she was able to design a workshop that made me feel like my grief was valid and that I was interacting with not just an expert, but a caring friend. It was more than just a workshop. She provided invaluable advice that I plan on drawing from for the rest of my life.

I really just wanted to take time and reach out and tell you how interesting and awesome your study was. It made an impact on me and was very inspiring to me and my future research endeavors. It was (obviously) very well put together and wonderfully done, and really helped me tie all of my thoughts and ideas together. Thank you so much for studying this and bringing awareness to it.

Dr. Emily Scheinfeld was invited to aid the 2019 UT Tyler Concrete Canoe team in their practicing of the project’s oral presentation. The students involved that particular year were high schoolers and thus especially inexperienced in academic presentations at the collegiate level. Dr. Scheinfeld led a specialized workshop teaching the basics of speech communication with emphasis on technical presentations related to engineering projects. At the 2019 ASCE Texas-Mexico Symposium, one of the most talked about topics was how well-prepared the high school students were in comparison to their college-level competitors.

Dr. Scheinfeld is a clear and strong communicator on taboo and stigmatized topics. I participated in her workshop on grief and mourning, and her candor about the challenges of loss really resonated with me. Grief is hard, and being not okay is okay. In such an uncertain time, I appreciate her advice on how get the individual tools you need to deal with something like mourning in the most personal and individual way.
