Dr. Uzma Quraishi
Dr. Uzma Quraishi, Associate Professor of History at Sam Houston State University and author of Redefining the Immigrant South: Indian and Pakistani Immigration to Houston during the Cold War (UNC Press, 2020), will provide a historical review that weaves together Cold War, Southern, and urban history. Drawing on research into South Asian migrations to Houston, Texas, Dr. Quraishi will highlight how race, place, ethnicity, and class have shaped immigration experiences over time in a transforming region and nation.
