ES #1-- Semester 1 Unit 2 "Early Humankind and the Development of Human Societies" Lesson 6 "The First Empires":
Students will understand how ancient civilizations developed and how they contributed to the current state of the world. This includes analyzing how the earliest civilizations created technologies that met societal needs and aided the development of cultural expressions such as writing, architecture, belief systems, art, medicine, etc.

ES #2-- Semester 1 Unit 7 "Greek Civilization" Lesson 3 "The Influence of Athenian Democracy on the US":
Students will understand how ancient civilizations developed and how they contributed to the current state of the world. This includes making connections to our modern governments and systems of power to ancient civilizations and be able to identify and compare ancient government systems to governance in today's world.
ES #3-- Semester 2 Unit 3 "Exploration and Revolution" Lesson 6 "Industrialization Begins in England":
Students will understand how revolutions have had an impact on the modern world and analyze the causes and effects of selected revolutions such as the Industrial Revolution.

ES #4-- Semester 2 Unit 5 "WWII, the Cold War, and Independence" Lesson 4 "Effects of WWII":
Students will analyze how major world events of the 20th century affect the world today by identifying key events, ideas, and leaders of the 20th century and describe the impact of these events on the world today.
