Essential standards

ES stand for Essential Standards. They are the most important topics of each students' learning in Language Arts and Math. Teachers have looked at the curriculum for each grade level and chosen those topics that are vital to master before moving on to the next grade level and then tied assessments to those standards.

If a student masters each of these at 80% or above, we count them ready to move to the next grade level. If they score below 80%, we make plans to intervene with students either one on one or in a small group setting until the skill is mastered.

In Language Arts you will notice we are using the Acadience test to test those ES's and we have small group instruction for those students who need extra support.
