The Monarch SOS app is currently available for iPhone only and includes helpful information on both monarchs and milkweed. The app shows monarch look-a-likes and photos at various stages of the life cycle.

It can also help identify the species of milkweed you have discovered. When you access the app, please include a photo so others can help confirm the species for you.

iNATURALIST

The iNaturalist app and Project "Monarch Butterfly Conservation in Utah"

The best way to report sightings in the INaturalist app is by joining the project "Monarch Butterfly Conservation in Utah"after you sign up with iNaturalist. This will allow you to report details regarding your findings such as monarch numbers, egg numbers, milkweed numbers, and information about the habitat.

INaturalist can also help you identify the particular of species of milkweed you have encountered.

For those who are not interested in submitting data from a smart phone, you can submit monarch and milkweed photos/sightings via your PC. This is the same as the Monarch and Milkweed Mapper that is included in the Monarch SOS app for iPhone - just another way to access it.

Journey North tracks the migration of monarchs, hummingbirds, and whales and the change of the seasons through reported sightings by citizen scientists. Each week, Journey North updates the map of the monarch migration based on these sightings. Please help! Utah needs more people reporting throughout the state!
