PamiNOW | Basic FSL Series

PamiNOW: Basic Filipino Sign Language (FSL) Lesson is series of short video lessons that aims to equip people with basic skills and knowledge in Filipino Sign Language. In partnership with the Deaf Association of Misamis Oriental (DAMOR), we aim to bring awareness and inclusion to the community. This program aims to educate the hearing community about the Local Deaf Community in Cagayan de Oro City through free 1-2-minute video lessons. This consists of bite-sized Filipino Sign Language Lessons uploaded every week on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the SSGC Facebook Page.

EPISODE 1: Myths and Misconceptions

In this episode, we will be covering some of the myths and misconceptions that revolve around the local deaf community and the usage of Filipino Sign Language.

EPISODE 2: Official National Sign Language

In this episode, we will be covering RA 11106 and what relevance does it have in the country. We will also be going through other things to keep in mind by the end of the lesson. Be sure to watch it 'til the end!

EPISODE 3: Communication Guidelines

In this episode, we will be giving you communication guidelines in conversing with the deaf person. Sign language once again is not the same as the spoken ways. These are the things that you need to always keep in mind.

EPISODE 4: Filipino Sign Language Alphabet

In this episode, we will be teaching you the Filipino Sign Language Alphabet, which has a very few difference with the American Sign Language counterpart. The video has been mirrored (flipped horizontally) for you to easily imitate the signs.

In this episode, we will cover the Do’s and Don’ts when approaching a Deaf (yes, with a capital "D" to show resepect to their community) in Filipino Sign Language. This can come in handy when you are approaching a Deaf friend without being offensive and enables you to create a comfortable and fun conversation.
