Like Manila, Laguna plays a significant role in our country. Laguna is the home of many historical assets, most especially the birthplace of the country's National Hero, Jose Rizal. Our website, ManiLaguna is name after the merge of Manila and Laguna. We chose this two because as Manila being our capital of the country and Laguna being rich in culture and is part of Greater Manila Area, this is also one of the reason why ManiLaguna is what we decided to name our website.
What makes Laguna distinct?
Laguna has a long history that begins in prehistoric times. Three place names from the tenth century are thought to refer to regions or polities (Tagalog: "bayan") along the shores of Laguna Lake, according to local historians. Some of the most significant historical figures from the Philippines have lived in the area since the colonial era, including José Rizal, the country's national hero, who was born in Calamba.
Significance of Chosen Assets to the Community
The chosen museums serve as great cultural assets to not only the local community of Laguna, but also to the entire Philippines. The building holds great historical significance as it was built during the spanish period, containing important artifacts and native practices that would have otherwise been forgotten if not properly stored and documented. It is where pain and triumph has been experienced, where wars and general assemblies have occurred. These places not only stand as a visual reminder of the past, but also a testament to the Journey of the Philippines as a country.
