Dr. Kristan Bryan C. Simbulan is the Principal Investigator of the Applied Nano‑Instrumentation & Sensors Laboratory Group (ANISLaG) and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communications Engineering at the University of Santo Tomas (UST). He earned his PhD in Physics from National Taiwan Normal University, following an MS in Electronics and Communications Engineering from De La Salle University–Manila and a BS in Electronics and Communications Engineering from UST, graduating cum laude.

Dr. Simbulan’s research lies at the intersection of applied physics, nanoelectronics, and instrumentation, with a focus on two‑dimensional semiconducting materials and nanoscale electronic devices. His work has contributed to high‑impact studies in advanced functional devices, optoelectronics, and emerging data‑driven methods, with publications in leading journals such as Nature Electronics, ACS Nano, and Science Advances.

Dr. Simbulan is a licensed Electronics Engineer and a member of professional organizations, including the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP), the Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines (IECEP), and the Analytics Association of the Philippines (AAP). He was also selected as a university delegate to the National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) Future Science Leaders’ Forum in 2022.
