This camp is designed for high school (entering grades 9 – 12) boys and girls who aspire to play water polo at any level. However, athletes entering 7th and 8th grades are welcome to attend if they are prepared to swim, play, and compete. Attendees should be strong swimmers, but they will be divided based on age and experience level to ensure each individual can train and compete against the appropriate level of competition. Sessions will focus on individual skill development and also on team tactics and team play. Attendees will receive high-level instruction in fundamentals as well as more advanced water polo skills and team strategies from coaches who understand developing competitive players as well as what it takes to play at the college level. Sessions will include water polo drills and game play to reinforce the learned skills and tactics. Sessions will be intense and designed to push each camper past his/her comfort zone to improve his/her overall play. This is a perfect camp for boys and girls who are developing their skills, as well as boys and girls who are aspiring to play in college and desire that collegiate evaluation.
Our Elite Camps will include individualized video review and analysis of shooting and passing with our "Sideline Scout" video systems. We will be providing individualized and differentiated instruction using this video review and analysis with each camper so that they can visualize their progress. The video review will be of each athlete's water polo fundamentals, particularly shooting. Water Polo is Fundamental!
A dedicated goalie coach will provide goalies their own training sessions in the mornings before they integrate back with the field players as needed. Goalie instruction will emphasize a variety of skill sets ranging from the fundamentals to high-level training. There is no substitute for good goalie play. The goaltender commands his/her defense and initiates the offense.
Camp water polo activities will be held in the Naval Academy’s Norm Scott Natatorium and/or the Lejeune Hall pool. Athletes will be lodged in the Naval Academy’s famous Bancroft Hall, and will be provided meals at King Hall, the dining facility for the Brigade of Midshipmen.
The primary location for the camp training is Scott Natatorium, United States Naval Academy, Annapolis, MD 21402. Training will also be conducted in the Lejeune Hall Pool.
