This clinic is for the athlete who aspires to play water polo at any level, focusing on developing middle school and high school-aged athletes, from beginners to experienced players. Athletes should be entering grades 6 to 12. Attendees will be divided based on age and experience level to ensure each individual can train and compete against the appropriate level of competition. Sessions will focus on the fundamentals of shooting and individual skill development. Sessions will include shooting demonstrations and practice, water polo drills, and small team scrimmages. Attendees will receive high-level instruction in the fundamentals of shooting, as well as more advanced skills, from coaches who understand the development of competitive players and what it takes to play at the college level. Sessions will be intense and designed to push each athlete past his/her comfort zone to improve his/her overall play. This is a perfect clinic for boys and girls who are beginners, as well as the boys and girls aspiring to play in a competitive club or high school water polo team. Since this is a day camp, it also provides time for families to explore the Annapolis area if they wish.
Lunch (pizza or sub sandwiches and drinks) will be provided for the athletes attending this clinic. Should athletes have special dietary constraints, we ask that they pack a lunch that meets their needs. Please note that this is a day camp and there will be no lodging available on the Naval Academy grounds for this clinic. Our Clinics are designed for the beginning, the developing, and the most skilled water polo athletes. Instruction is differentiated to provide a meaningful and memorable experience for all levels of athletes. However, even though water polo experience is not necessary for this camp, all campers must be comfortable in the water for two sessions a day. All of our pools are deep water, and it is not feasible for campers to rest on the bottom of the pool during instruction.
