(Primarily applies to majors program assessment)
Levels of development for each department/program learning outcome are identified within the department's curriculum.
Presence or absence of outcome identified for each course in the curriculum.
Levels are indicated only for the department's required courses.
While each language has its own more detailed mapping, the department as a whole has established expectations across the languages in terms of the development of skills and competencies expected at the 100, 200, 300, and 400 course level
This is particularly useful given that the curriculum is not lockstep within or across the different language minors and majors
The department indicates levels of Introduced, Reinforced, Competent, and where Assessment takes place to guide annual assessment activities appropriate to the learning being assessed
The departmental outcomes align with professional disciplinary standards (ACTFL)
In this example,
The course(s) that significantly support each program learning outcome are indicated
The department indicates where learning is introduced, reinforced, and mastered (at the UG level)
Locations where assessment is documented are identified (may be course embedded assignments or activities or may be in addition to the assessment of student learning that regularly takes place in courses)
While not requested for internal USNA assessment, this program also indicates locations where learning outcomes are supported in the USNA core curriculum
(Only applies to majors program assessment)
The portion of the Graduate Attribute that is addressed by the department/program learning outcome (including the complete Attribute when appropriate) is identified
Presence or absence of outcome identified for each of the USNA's Seven Attributes of Graduates (either complete or partial).
In the above example,
Each program learning outcome is aligned with USNA's Attributes of a Graduate
Each cell where the program outcome supports a USNA graduate attribute indicates if it demonstrably (can be assessed) addresses all aspects of the attribute or some aspects of the attribute
Attribute 5 and LO 1 is marked with a C (Complete) as all aspects of Articulate are demonstrably addressed by the program
Attribute 4 and LO 4 is marked with P (Partial) as only some aspects of Innovative are demonstrably addressed by the program and the program identifies those aspects
(Only applies to core program assessment)
The portion of the Core Learning Outcome that is addressed is clearly identified
Presence or absence of outcome identified for each of the Core Learning Outcomes.
In the above example,
Each core course learning outcome is aligned with USNA's Core Curricular (General Education) Learning Outcomes
Each cell where the course outcome supports a core curricular learning outcome indicates the portion of the core curricular outcome that can be assessed
