Practicum Title: College Harm Prevention Assessment Practicum
Office/Department: Student Affairs Case Management
Practicum Learning Outcomes
Student Affairs Case Management addresses prevention and intervention for harm and violence on campus, and provides support to students experiencing or causing distress in the campus community. Our practicum student(s) will work closely with student staff from two of our programs, Bears That CARE (peer to peer bystander education program) and Empowered Fitness (student-driven project working with the fitness center to create fitness spaces that are more inclusive and less permissive to sexual harassment), and work with office staff to propose an evaluation plan (and if time allows, implement that plan) to assess outcomes. The student will also have opportunities to learn about our Case Management work, attending or shadowing meetings and learning how we respond to and work with our students of concern.
Proposed Student Work Plan
Rough breakdown of time:
5 hours training
20 hours meeting with student staff
15 hours attending meetings related to the Students of Concern Committee, attending meetings with program stakeholders and campus allies, and attending area/divisional meetings and programs
30 hours designing and implementing assessment for Bears That CARE
20 hours designing and implementing assessment for Empowered Fitness
10 hours research
Scheduling_Needs
Students would not be expected to perform all activities in the office. Early in the semester, more hours in the office would be preferable to allow for training and meeting with campus partners and stakeholders. As tasks become clearer over the course of the semester, more hours off campus would be permissible.
