Freshman Orientation
Are you worried about finding classes, meeting new people, and navigating high school? You are not alone. Our LINK crew is here to help. The LINK Crew is a group of upperclassmen here to support and welcome freshmen. They can answer all of your questions and help you transition to high school. Orientation is offered the day before school starts in the fall. Your LINK leader will make sure you are prepared for your first day of high school.
Daily Schedule
At LHS, we follow a 7- period modified block schedule. Students attend all seven classes on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday. Wednesday and Thursday are block days. Even periods meet on Wednesday and odd periods meet on Thursday. The school day starts at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 3:10 p.m. every day except Wednesday which has an earlier dismal time of 1:35.
When will I see my schedule? Can I make changes if I don't like my classes?
It is always our goal to have the next year schedules completed prior to heading into the summer. It is super important that you complete your requests either at your Middle School or with your LHS counselor in the spring of your 8th-grade year. If it is not completed prior to May, it will be available to you by the end of July/beginning of August.
Class Changes
We give students every opportunity to change their classes prior to each semester. In a non-pandemic time, you would go to Student Services, collect the form, pick your class, get your parent's/guardian's signature, and then return it to your counselor. We take classes changes through the first week of school in the Fall and then changes for Second Semester are due before Winter Break. Level changes are taken until the beginning of November. A level change is if you want to remain in the same course but going to a different level such as Advanced Algebra 2 to Algebra 2.
LUNCH
Our lunch schedule consists of three 25- minute lunch shifts during the 5th hour. Lunch shifts are determined by your 5th- hour class.
LHS has an open lunch period, students are allowed to leave campus for lunch.
