Juniors and seniors are eligible to apply to serve as a Teacher Aide or to enroll in an Independent Study. Students receive grades for these courses, and they count as elective credit toward graduation.

Teacher Aide
Juniors and seniors interested in serving as a teacher aide should print the Teacher Aide Contract Form (linked to the right) or pick up a copy from the Student Services Office. Completed and signed forms must be returned to your counselor.
When enrolling, students must select a backup class in case the teacher aide placement is not approved or does not work out.
It is the student’s responsibility to find a teacher who is willing to have an aide.
Please note that teachers may not have aides during their plan period.
Independent Study
The Independent Study Program is open to students who demonstrate the desire, interest, maturity, and skills necessary to pursue an in-depth area of study. The purpose of the Independent Study course is to encourage students to question, explore, and discover knowledge independently.
Juniors and seniors seeking Independent Study credit should print the Independent Study Form (linked to the right) or pick up a copy from the Student Services Office. Completed and signed forms must be returned to the student’s counselor.
It is the student’s responsibility to find a teacher willing to sponsor the Independent Study. The Independent Study Form must be completed in collaboration with the sponsoring teacher.
When enrolling, students must select a backup class in case the Independent Study placement is not approved or does not work out.
Independent Study Through Work Experience
Students may earn credit by working in the community 10 or more hours per week.
Juniors and seniors seeking Independent Study Through Work Experience credit should print the required form (linked to the right) or pick up a copy from the Student Services Office. Completed and signed forms must be returned to the student’s counselor.
Forms must be completed in August for the fall semester. Please do not submit a form for the upcoming school year prior to August.
When enrolling, students must select a backup class in case the Work Experience placement is not approved or does not work out.
Students may not be related to their employer or supervisor.
This course hour will be scheduled at the end of the student’s school day and cannot be placed at any other time.
Students must contact their counselor immediately if their employment ends before the semester concludes.
