Meredith Casey graduated summa cum laude from Kansas State University as a Bachelor of Music Education in 2021.While at K-State, she performed with various groups including the Pride of Wildcat Land Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Concert Jazz Ensemble, Lab A Jazz Ensemble, Housewreckers Jazz Combo, Symphony Orchestra, Pit Orchestra, Pub Crawl Band, Cat Band, University Band, University Choir, Woodwind Ensemble, Clarinet Choir, and many chamber ensembles. She was heavily involved in the Pride of Wildcat Land as the Assistant Drum Major in 2019 and Head Drum Major in 2020. In many of these ensembles, Ms. Casey placed principal player on both clarinet and saxophone. Additionally, she played various secondary instruments in these ensembles including euphonium, trumpet, percussion, horn, and flute. Ms. Casey was also a member and officer of K-State's Tau Beta Sigma Honorary Band Service Sorority, National Association for Music Education, and Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society. Ms. Casey finished her degree student teaching under Dan Freeman at Blue Valley North High School and Carey Bowden at Cedar Hills Elementary School.
Ms. Casey accepted the Assistant Director of Bands position at Washburn Rural High School in the Spring of 2021. Since 2017, Ms. Casey has taught private clarinet lessons to students ages 5th-12th grade. Her students have been involved in KMEA District & All-State Band, Solo & Ensemble, and other festivals as well as college honor bands and community bands. Every summer after graduating, she has returned to her high school alma mater, Blue Valley Southwest in Overland Park, Kansas, to teach as a woodwind, visual, and music technician at their band camp. Ms. Casey has also been hired as a music instructor for Blue Valley Southwest's wind ensemble camp. In addition, she has taught as a Leadership and Drum Major Caption for the K-State Leadership and Auxiliary Camp, Clarinet Instructor for the K-State Music Camp, and Music Teacher for K-State's Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) Camp. She attended Avon High School in Avon, Ohio before moving to and graduating from Blue Valley Southwest High School in 2017.
Ms. Casey wouldn't be the same person without her big, crazy family of 9 and her fluffy dog Ruby. She enjoys spending lots of time with her family and friends playing music, battling in epic board game competitions, going to dog parks, and beating them at Mario Kart.
