A Community of Readers Starts Here
Hello, Jay Shideler families!
I’m so excited to begin another year as your school librarian! After spending 12 years teaching secondary English in Albuquerque and Topeka, I found my dream job in the library. This year, I’m looking forward to welcoming students back, helping them discover books they’ll love, and creating a space where curiosity, learning, and a love of reading can grow.
When I’m not at school, you’ll find me spending time with my husband, Jeremy (a proud JS, WRMS, and WRHS graduate), our four kids—three of whom are Jays themselves—and our big, goofy beardidoodle. I also enjoy reading, writing, and creating things, whether it's a new project for the library or something crafty at home.
If you ever have a question, a book recommendation, or just want to talk about books, I’d love to hear from you. Here’s to another year of great stories, new discoveries, and a wonderful community of readers!
Warmly,
Emily Bradshaw

Hi! My name is Heidi (Holloman) Nelson! I am 47 years young! This will be my 1st year as a library clerk, but I have been a classroom teacher for the past 23 years! I married Jeremiah in 2013. We have two feisty gingers. Beckham (boy) who is 12 and in 7th grade, and Bentley (girl) who is 9, going into 5th grade!
I grew up here in Topeka, Kansas where I attended Randolph Elementary, Landon Middle School, and Topeka High School. I have one sister and one brother. I come from a family of teachers! Everything from Principals, to PE teachers, to Classroom teachers, to Music teachers. We have it covered!
In May of 2003, I graduated from Washburn University with a Bachelors of Education K-9. In May 2011, I graduated from Baker University with my Masters in Education. I have taught everything from Kindergarten to third grade!
