Thursday – July 17
3:00-3:30—Check in for all queen/princess contestants, last opportunity to turn in required sponsorship money ($50) and ticket sales. Location: Canton Fire Station, Main Street, Canton.
3:30-4:30—Written test
CPRA Rodeo at the McPherson County Fairgrounds in Canton starts at 8:00. Contestants, 2024 royalty, and visiting royalty need to be ready with horses at 7:00. 2024 MCFA Queen will carry American flag. Fly-bys will be after the 2nd or 3rd event.
Friday - July 18
8:30 am—Horsemanship competition begins at Tom Miller Arena on the north edge of Canton (start with Queens, then Princesses--rail work {if groups are small, queens and princesses will do rail work together}, pattern, flag, queen’s run)
30 minutes following horsemanship—Interviews with judges, location Canton Fire Station, Main Street, Canton.
Following Interviews—Lunch and Impromptu questions (one on rodeo knowledge and one opinion)
6:30 pm - Meeting for all Queen and Princess candidates at the arena behind chutes without horses.
7:00 pm – Contestants and 2024 royalty be ready to go on horses – SHOW TIME!!! Visiting royalty will be on foot helping with coronation and will do fly-bys later.
7:30 pm – Queen/Princess Coronation. After coronation, ALL contestants will take a group photo behind the chutes, following which other contestants’ obligations are finished.
8:00 pm – 2024 Queen carries the American flag for the National Anthem. 2025 Queen and Princess will have a fly-by before visiting royalty after the 2nd or 3rd event; queen will carry MCFA flag. During rodeo, 2024 and 2025 queens and princesses help with chicken/calf scramble, run cattle, and set barrels. Visiting royalty will do fly-bys after the 2nd or 3rd event of the rodeo.
Saturday - July 20
10:00-12:00 - Appearance for 2025 Queen and Princess and visiting royalty at A5 Western on Main Street in McPherson. We will model clothing and have a photo/video shoot along with signing autographs for customers.
2:00 pm - Parade in Canton, 2025 Queen and Princess lead parade with flags. Visiting royalty will follow contestants. Be in the staging area ready by 1:30; parade starts at 2:00. Staging area for horses is at the old park by the water towers. There are larger parking lots behind the high school a couple blocks away or you can ride horses to town from the fairgrounds. THEME for the parade is Dirt Road Dancing!
6:30 pm - Demo Derby, 2025 Queen and Princess (in title) help with the buffalo chip throwing contest. Find Mary Jane Lauer at the south end of the arena by the flagpole.
We love having visiting royalty attend our rodeo and help with events! If you are interested in attending as visiting royalty, send an email to Tina McMannis at mcmannist75@gmail.com by the Monday before rodeo weekend.
Visiting royalty are welcome to attend all parts of the pageant. They are also invited to do fly-bys at the beginning of Friday and Saturday night's rodeos, help with children's events and barrels during the rodeo, attend the autograph signing at A5 Western, and participate in the parade.
