AIT

The Autism Interdisciplinary Team (AIT) is here to assist staff and students with challenging academic learning and behavior difficulties as it relates to children diagnosed with Autism or other similar developmental disabilities. The team is comprised of multiple disciplines including: Autism Specialist, School Psychologists, Occupational Therapist, Speech Language Pathologist, High and Low Incidence Teachers and other professionals. Each person on the team has extensive experience and training with students on the Autism Spectrum. The team's role within the district is to provide consultation to educational teams with children suspected of having an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or with those who are presenting with similar characteristics. Additionally, the AIT will assist IEP teams to determine educational identification in the area of Autism; train staff and students how to work with those on the spectrum; observe and screen students for a possible diagnosis; work with medical professionals when parents seek a medical diagnosis of Autism; talking with parents about the possibility of the present of an ASD; and, assist with appropriate evidence-based strategies that allow students to function well in the least restrictive environment.
