8th grade science digs deep into the Earth. We scope out planets near and far. We float with the clouds to see why Kansas is a part of tornado alley. We ask ourselves what role we play in the world around us - the good, the bad, and the ugly. And, most of all, we get our hands dirty finding out the "why" more than the "what" as I believe science is about doing NOT memorizing.

8th Grade Integrated Climate Unit
Sci-Guys' Games
Students will be at the forefront of planning in 8th grade science. A mix of activities will be utilized as students begin to answer questions regarding patterns of the world around them. Notes will use a variety of forms from foldables, to traditional notebook paper, or doodle images. Discussions will be essential as students work together to explain big ideas.
Students will compete in a class versus class competition throughout each quarter for the coveted Space Race Victory. Students are awarded (and sometimes deducted) points from team challenges, homework completion, test scores, Big Point Blowout activities, organization, and just being overall good people throughout the day.
Students will explore the world around them using a variety of activities that engage them in the content. Some of these activities are challenges simulating real-world scenarios and others are a chance to build class camaraderie. The goal of these explorations are to get students asking their own questions about nature and how they play a part in science every day.
