Lifting weights can be great for a lot of reasons. Not only is it physically beneficial, but it also strengthens mental health. Studies have been done through rats, showing that when "strength training" they will change the cellular environment inside their brain, which allows them to think better. Similar things happen to humans also improving our reflexes and ability to move.
I've played sports since I was little and it's always been a part of me. When getting into middle school sports, we were sometimes required to lift, especially in the summer because of off-season. When I started showing progression and gaining muscle, I grew very fond of lifting. I would look up different workouts and write them down. I now workout everyday and continue a healthy lifestyle.
