DAY 1
Writing Lessonlearn or review the following:
in FALL 2023, we've already studied & practiced the following:
let's see what you know about story writing: click here
this is what you'll work on this week: Nov. 6 - 10
it will go into next week too
our goal is to have final copy due before Thanksgiving break on Nov. 16, but that is flexible provided you are working
DAY 2
Drafting Dayif you've havn't done so yet, choose the prompt from yesterday's red link
take 20-minutes and write a rough draft - just write - don't spend a ton of time editing
take a break & do something else for 10 minutes: walk, jog, go to library, play a game, stand-up stretch, read a book, something appropriate for school
now, go back to your writing
read your draft to yourself
do NOT consult anyone else; this is still your rough draft stage of what YOU can come up with on your own
What's good about it? What's your favorite part? How can you make it better? Do you have too much going on?Â
If too many ideas are in it, narrow it down to one and revise so it is either (1) a scene, like my example was or (2) a short story with a resolved conflict
now revise, re-write, move around, etc.
maybe you need to type what you like if you handwrote it
maybe you need to copy & paste what you like into a different document, so you still have your original or do file/make a copy & label one original
DAY 3
Revising Dayfinish the revised draft
type it in GDocs
look over the all-encompassing checklist above (you have paper copy of it too)
consider which of the following areas below your piece is weak in
