What is perseverance?
Perseverance is the willingness and ability to keep going when things are tough. People who persevere show steadfastness and give the extra effort needed to do something, despite how hard it is or how long it takes to reach the goal.
Students who successfully demonstrate perseverance may exhibit the following behaviors:
• Resists the urge to give up and puts the time in to figure out solutions to problems
• Reframes negative situations. Says phrases like, “I’m not good at this….YET!”
• Displays positive self-talk
• Encourages others to finish strong during difficult tasks
• Acknowledges mistakes but uses them as opportunities to grow and get better
