General Education Intervention (GEI) is a schoolwide approach of providing multi-tiered levels of intervention to support each student's achievement. When we refer to GEI, we mean the umbrella of the entire support process. It is not a "yellow packet," the sole responsibility of the SIT team, a student improvement plan, the sole responsibility of an IEP team, an IEP referral or an IEP.
An instructional package for a student includes all of the following components:
Skills targeted
Instructional strategies
Dosage (days of the week, length of time)
Group size
Motivation
Student attendance
Teacher attendance
Intervention
Interventionist training on the intervention
Progress monitoring (measure, frequency, integrity, total number of data points)
Intervention integrity (observations conducted)
Team-based data reviews (compare data of students receiving same instructional package)
