How Proficiency Scales were developed for Wichita Public Schools
Proficiency scales outline a progression of learning and are the foundation for implementing standards-referenced grading. With a well-articulated sequence of knowledge and skills, it is much easier to provide students with feedback as to their current status regarding a specific learning goal.Â
Using Proficiency Scales in the Classroom
When students clearly know what they are to learn, and they monitor their own progress toward goals, research proves students can make over 3 years of growth in 1 year's time.
