FCCLA service projects often involve community interacting with community members with helps students apply their learning from FCS classes in real-world situations. This reinforces the importance of FCS in everyday life.
Our POW also includes activities and encouraging competitions like STAR Events that align with FCS curriculum and provide students opportunities to enhance their academic knowledge through competitive events.
Planning - Members, and especially officers, take on leadership roles in organizing events and projects. To do this, they must learn to set goals, create action plans and coordinate team members in which they delegate tasks to. Having practice with this helps them to learn leadership, event management, communication and interpersonal skills.
Conducting - During the execution of the activities on our POW, members have to learn to trust and rely on one another. They learn how to problem solve, get team members motivated and make decisions. All of which enhance their leadership and management skills.
Evaluating - After the activities, members reflect on the outcomes by analyzing what went well and what could be improved. This critical evaluation process fosters personal growth and continuous improvement. Having an evaluation process lets them apply lessons learned to future events and projects.

Giving the students the opportunity to lead the planning around service activities ensures they have opportunity to take responsibility and make decisions.
They also reflect FCCLA Purpose #4 and Purpose #5 by providing opportunities for them to engage in service projects across our school and community, giving them the chance to engage with others that might not be of their same demographics.
Being an active and engaged member of FCCLA and helps us achieve FCCLA Purpose #7 as well by practicing skills like communication and organization. FCCLA Purpose #8 is achieved by the intracurricular integration of the FCCLA National Programs in FCS classes and promoting the work learned in FCS classes through service projects and competitive events.
