District Leadership Responsibilities
Board of Education (BOE):
District Vision
Determine where resource allocation should be applied
Listen/Communicate concerns from stakeholders in the community towards instruction and school procedures
Administrative Team:
Review district data
Set goals for each school year
Review district policy with regards to each school
Maintain fiscal responsibility for district and each school
Review/Update safety protocols for the school district
Continually recruit and retain instructors for quality instruction
Stay current with educational trends
District Site Council (DSC):
Meets annually (combo of all 3 BSCs)
Look at district data and share thoughts/ideas on what is seen
Communicate data to stakeholders (Superintendent's Annual Report is shared)
Communicate district/building procedures and goals to stakeholders
Share ideas from stakeholders to improve instruction and outcomes in student learning
Provide feedback from community/families
Give feedback on district/school identified concerns
District Leadership Team (DLT):
Work with Dr. Sue Jenkins with School Improvement
Look at State Board Outcome data to determine needs at building levels
Develop a district action plan and goals for school improvement
Look at the 4 Fundamentals of School Improvement set by the KSDE to: Set goals, Monitor progress
Look at school/district data to drive direction of improvement
Attend Executive visit w/Amber Miller (Regional executive)
Attend School Improvement Day in Oakley with (Colby, Goodland, & Scott City)
TASN Team:
Work with TASN with tiered supports at USD 211
Attend meetings on school structure with tiered support
Look at Fastbridge data and make decisions on tiered placement
Communicate with building staff what the data is showing
Receive training on subject area of need and train the staff on how to help improve students’ scores
Look at trends and growth to determine effectiveness of program
Expand framework to all curricular areas: Behavior, ELA, Math, SECD
Curriculum Council:
Stay up to date with standards at the state and federal level
Communicate with the curricular committees these trends
Communicate with the staff events happening within the curricular focus
Align state standards to curriculum used
Review and analyze instruction to understanding in grade levels
Place focus and instruction to help students achieve higher scores on state/national exams
Building Leadership Teams (BLT):
Team will look at building data in the areas of: standards/behavior/SECD/classroom expectations
Team will discuss scheduling and monthly activities/events
Discuss/Analyze data to determine building level goals & action plans
Communicate data and findings to the building staff members
Building SITE Council (BSC):
Meets monthly
Look at building data and share thoughts/ideas on what is seen
Communicate data to stakeholders
Communicate building procedures and goals to stakeholders
Share ideas from stakeholders to improve instruction and outcomes in student learning
Provide feedback from community/families
Give feedback on school identified concerns
Building Staff Members:
Follow building procedures/rules
Support district goals/vision
Communicate progress/concerns from classroom
Collaborate with colleagues about data from BLT regarding: standards/behavior/SECD/classroom expectations
Provide input regarding upcoming activities/events
Gather procedural information from presentations during staff meetings
Collect data for the BLT so they can make informed decisions
