USD will host the tenth Pan Lingua Undergraduate Conference on Monday, April 3, 2023 at the Muenster University Center. Pan Lingua is a language conference for undergraduate students.
Created in 2013 at USD as a place for our Spanish students to present their research work in the target language, this conference was originally called the Spanish Undergraduate Research (SUR) Conference. It then grew to include students from German, French, Lakota, Russian, and Scandinavian languages, and it was renamed SUR Plus Ultra. Later it became the Pan Lingua Undergraduate Conference.
Through this conference our undergraduate language students have the possibility to present their research papers in an academic setting. This is a great opportunity for them to showcase—in the target language—their research interests and their accomplishments as language majors. Since undergrads from other universities attend this conference, our students get to network and share their experiences. Various disciplines are represented at Pan Lingua, such as the cultures of the language they study, literature, social issues, linguistics, history, art, and religion, among others. It is a wonderful opportunity for our students to share their intellectual interests, to meet other students and professors, and to network.
