USC Taekwondo

Kick On!

Taekwondo is a traditional Korean martial art, and a Korean national sport. It translates to "the way of the hand and foot", placing heavy emphasis on head-level kicks, jumping and spinning kicks, and fast kicking techniques while also incorporating some punching techniques. Developed in 1972 by the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Taekwondo is now a global martial art recognized at the Olympic level.

Founded in 2001 by four students passionate about Taekwondo, the USC Taekwondo Club is now the largest martial arts organization on campus. We practice WT-style (Olympic) Taekwondo at USC.

USC Taekwondo Club (TKD) is open to all USC students, faculty, and alumni. No matter if you are trying Taekwondo for the first time or competing regularly in tournaments, we warmly welcome you to be a part of our club.

We are associated with the Pacific West Collegiate Taekwondo Conference (PacWest).

As a club sport under USC Recreational Sports, we represent USC in Taekwondo competitions, competing in both sparring and poomsae (forms). We participate in collegiate and open tournaments in California and around the country.

We have a USC TKD Demonstration Team formed in 2022 that performs at USC events.
