FAQ

Is it fine to join even if I have experience with Taekwondo or martial arts in general?

We take people of all experience levels. Whether you’re completely new to martial arts or you’re training for the Olympics, we all work out together and have a great time!

But I’m not athletic. At all. Wouldn’t I get hurt?

We always have someone on hand with coaching experience. For sparring practices, we provide safety gear. We always advocate safe practice and would never place members into danger.

When/Where do you practice? What if I can’t make a practice?

We practice Mondays from 8:00 - 10:00 pm, Wednesdays from 7:00 - 9:00 pm, and Fridays from 8:00 - 10:00 pm in PED 201. However, they don't start until next Monday, August 28th, 2023. As students, our club's members also have school assignments and time conflicts with practices, so we encourage our members to come to practice when they can. You are not penalized for missing practice.

How much are club dues, and do they need to be paid right now?

No, they aren't due on the first day of practice!! They are due after the two week free trial. We want you to know what you're paying for. They are $75 for a semester or $140 for the year. These go to your uniform, paying for club social events, and more. This is still much cheaper than many other martial arts studios.

So you train and workout. Is that all my money go towards?

Nope! We will provide you with a uniform, which is covered by your dues. Also, we host many socials throughout the year with the club paying for some events!

Do you have to fill out the $25 club sports waiver?

Yes. It has to do with liability in the case of injury and other circumstances.

Are my club dues covered by the club sports waiver fee?

No! The club sports waiver is a liability agreement with USC. Our club dues go directly to YOU and your participation in the club.

Who is eligible to join the team?

Literally everyone if you are affiliated with USC. Grad student? Yes. Undergrad? Yes. Professor? Yes. Staff? Yes. Your cousin who happens to live in LA? Nope.

How can I stay up to date about what the team is up to if I'm not ready to join today or if I've already decided to join?

If I already have a belt, do I need to test again or show proof?
