Accessing USC Library Materials

As USC students you have complete access to USC library holdings including ALL scientific journal subscriptions.

Many in our department use Norris Medical Library for scientific resources and their website has a lot of useful information

To gain access to subscribed items you either need to use a proxy (a kind of a gateway to have access) or connect directly into USC’s network using VPN.

To use the proxy add “libproxy1.usc.edu” the URL address (right after .com and before the forward slash). You will then Shibboleth authenticate like usual.

Alternatively you can use a bookmarklet. This is a little link you put in the bookmark bar of your browser. When you visit a page that requires a USC subscription, you click the bookmark and it evokes a command that reloads the page using the proxy.
